Jurgen Klopp states rejoining to coach Liverpool is plausible in theory.

The German coach, who left Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that a future comeback remains a possibility. The 58-year-old, after a transformative nine-year spell which brought a European Cup triumph and ending the club's long wait for three decades, currently occupies roles overseeing worldwide football with the Red Bull group and as an advisor to Germany's league body.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

The club claimed the league title under Arne Slot, yet numerous supporters who revere Klopp would embrace the possibility of his potential comeback. In a wide-ranging interview, he told his interviewer: “I stated I will never coach a different club in England. Therefore should it be the Reds...absolutely. It's plausible.”

“I’m 58, which suggests the choice could be mine down the line, who knows. Do I have to make the decision today? If so, I wouldn't return. Fortunately, it's not necessary. I can just see what lies ahead.”

Conditions for a Comeback

When asked about what circumstances would need to occur to bring him back to management, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I love what I do right now,” he stated. “I don't crave being a coach; I avoid standing under bad weather for two-and-a-half or three hours; I don’t miss going to press conferences repeatedly each week or having 10-12 interviews each week.

“No nostalgia for the changing area in that context, however, dining out alongside the squad having a nice chat, that’s nice. Success was frequent meaning regularly positive atmosphere around the place. Remaining with me is Van Dijk's laughter in my ear as an instance.”

Praise for His Successor

Klopp was full of praise for his successor, praising him for the tweaks which secured the championship last term. Liverpool have lost a string of losses in all competitions following significant transfers, but he rubbished the suggestion that it might signal the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, doubters will be silenced with negative comments. He’s an incredible talent. The French striker, superb talent. It’s a really good thoughtfully assembled roster. No need for concern about Liverpool, things will improve.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally about the death of Jota, whom he brought in in 2020, and the effect on Liverpool. The forward died tragically in a road accident together with his sibling this past summer.

“Who can fill the void of such an individual? It’s not about his on-field talent, it's his character. It's hard to picture the dressing room missing him. Putting it into words is tough on this topic. A devastating blow for his teammates too. No one within the club would cite it to justify results though it's a fact. Being in that space where he was omnipresent. Handling this individually is challenging. Unbearable.”
